Happy Holidays from New Door

You blink and it’s December, and we all know what that means!

It’s time to prep your property as family, friends, workmates, and neighbors converge for the festive season.

As a Fijian real estate agency, New Door understands the pleasure (and pain!) of preparing your home, compound, and office for all the gang to come over. So, for ease of mind, we have enlisted a few tips to help you out.

Decluttering

Many of us have a designated area of the porch or compound for household and office junk; items that are no longer used and are supposed to be “fixed” but have joined the pile of other junk items waiting to be fixed… since forever. Pile it up now and throw it out! That broken fan, the tattered mat, old bicycle … throw it out or move it to proper storage. Space is precious and you’ll be surprised how much room is freed up for humans to sit and socialize, once you declutter.

Your compound is no different; all those old, dengue-breeding tires and hurricane shutters have to be properly organized and stored away. This will not only avail more walking space on your lawn, but help keep your outsides safe for hyper children, bare feet, and tipsy adults!

Office workers may also want to consider a clean about before converting the car park into a party space. Old office chairs (especially with wheels) are a safety hazard, and you don’t want the boss to fall over…or do you…

Hosting

Hosting in Fiji is two-fold; hosting a party or / and/ usually your family and friends who “crash” and leave in the morning. This is Fiji Christmas time, and unexpected sleepovers should definitely be expected.

So, aside from the eating and entertainment, consider other practicalities; hire extra chairs, stock up on beddings, organize more tarpaulin for the traditional extension of the verandah etc. Designate zones for children, the elderly or special-needs members of your family to ensure everybody can socialize comfortably and safely.

>Fiji maybe a small country but community is tight, and that means every inch of free space in your property will have to be maximized. Our tips should help all property owners avoid overcrowding and under-resourcing.

From the New Door team, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.
